West Bromwich Albion oust Chelsea to continue home run

Goals from Shane Long and Peter Odemwingie against Chelsea help West Brom to a sixth win out of seven at home this season.

West Bromwich Albion have continued their impressive home form by downing Chelsea this afternoon.

The high-flying Baggies took the lead on the 10-minute mark when James Morrison picked out Shane Long, who had evaded David Luiz, to head home.

West Brom continued to dominate the Blues but the Stamford Bridge club equalised six minutes before the interval through Eden Hazard.

The Belgian was picked out at the back post by Cesar Azpilicueta and his header may have been saved by Boaz Myhill but was diverted in by Billy Jones.

The hosts retook the lead in the 50th minute when Long turned provider, crossing for Peter Odemwingie who headed through Petr Cech's legs.

Roberto Di Matteo had left out the playmaking duo of Juan Mata and Oscar and the Italian brought them on in the hope of grabbing an equaliser but despite pinning the home side back, they were unable to net a leveller.

Three points for Steve Clarke's men sees them rise into the top four just a point behind Chelsea, who stay third.
