AC Milan's teenage goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was reduced to tears last night after finding himself on the receiving end of abuse from his side's supporters during their Coppa Italia encounter with Hellas Verona.
The 18-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from San Siro over the summer but ultimately decided to pen a new long-term deal, although reports in recent weeks have suggested that he could yet depart in the near future, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain among the interested parties.
Milan have endured a torrid season so far in Serie A and currently sit 16 points adrift of leaders and arch rivals Inter Milan, prompting some fans to take out their anger on Donnarumma and recently-signed older brother Antonio Donnarumma.
Prior to kickoff last night, fans unveiled a 100-ft banner reading: "Moral violence, 6 million per year and the signing of a parasite brother? Now get out, the patience is over!"
Donnarumma was visibly shaken by the abuse and was filmed in tears being consoled by Leonardo Bonucci after the warmups:
Milan went on to win the game 3-0.
