Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla admits that he would be open to saying a 'proper goodbye' to the club's supporters in the future.

Santi Cazorla has acknowledged that he was left frustrated at not being able to say a 'proper goodbye' to Arsenal supporters in 2018.

After spending a significant period on the sidelines through injury, Cazorla was released at the end of his contract, eventually rejoining former side Villarreal.

However, amid reports that the Gunners could provide the veteran playmaker with an opportunity to address the club's supporters, Cazorla has admitted that he would be delighted should early plans come to fruition.

The 35-year-old told BBC Sport: "It was frustrating to not be able to say goodbye to a club who treated me so well.

"It is something left in my career to say goodbye properly. I am eternally grateful to the club and the fans for the way they continue to treat me."

During his six-year stay at the Emirates Stadium, Cazorla scored 29 goals from 180 appearances in all competitions.
