Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis believes that Liverpool have the right "philosophy" by putting young players into the first team.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis believes that it is imperative for managers to give young players a chance to show their worth in the first team.

The Gunners businessman used Liverpool as an example following manager Brendan Rodgers's decision to launch a host of youth players into his senior squad in the Premier League this season.

"We need to create an environment where managers can be braver and we can give young players a chance," said Gazidis.

"Liverpool have been fantastic this year, they have some young players coming through their system and really generating tremendous excitement within their team because they are being given an opportunity to play.

"It would have been very easy for Liverpool not to have that pathway for those young players, much easier than taking the risk of giving them a chance. That's critical, it's about philosophy within a club and that's what gives you resilience and gives you real strength and a foundation for success."

Gazidis also called on clubs to be more patient with managers.
