Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has strongly suggested that the club are on the verge of completing the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.
The club have faced criticism once again for their lack of spending this summer, but they could be about to splash around £52m on a double swoop.
Mustafi is believed to be the subject of a £35m move from Valencia as Wenger hopes to add to his defensive backline following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.
Perez is expected to arrive in North London from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m to challenge Olivier Giroud for a place up front.
When asked about the pair in this morning's press conference, Wenger told reporters: "We are working on the deals. Will we sign anyone before the window closes? I'm 99% confident."
Arsenal had previously been in pursuit of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy and Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, but both attempts were unsuccessful.
