Mohamed Sissoko training with Monaco

Free agent Mohamed Sissoko joins former coach Claudio Ranieri at Monaco in a bid to find full fitness and a new club.

Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has joined Monaco for training this week as his search for a new club continues.

Sissoko was released by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, after failing to impress in a six-month loan spell with Fiorentina.

Championship side Reading held talks with the Mali international last month but they came to nothing, leading Sissoko to ask former coach Claudio Ranieri for a chance to impress at Monaco.

He told Ligue 1's official website: "I asked to come and train here. I know Ranieri well. He coached me at both Valencia and Juventus."

When asked if there was any possibility of winning a contract with Monaco the 28-year-old replied: "It's quite complicated. The club and I will talk later."

Monaco already have vast options at their disposal in central midfield, including French internationals Jeremy Toulalan and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
