Paul Lambert not rushing to sign new contract

Paul Lambert says that there is no panic to sign a new contract with Aston Villa with two years left on his current deal.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has said that he is in no rush to extend his contract with the club.

The Scot still has two years left to run on the deal he signed at the start of last season, and believes that there are more pressing matters to attend to than his own future.

"Talks to extend my stay? No, because I've got this year and one more," the Birmingham Mail quotes the 43-year-old as saying. "It's a long time still to go.

"Randy [Lerner, owner] and Paul [Faulkner, chief executive] have always been really honest with us. I get on really well with them.

"We'll just see what happens later on. There's never any great rush. I think there's more important things than my own situation."

Villa take on West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.
