Conference roundup: Halifax Town, Forest Green Rovers maintain 100% record

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action in the Conference Premier as Halifax Town and Forest Green Rovers move two points clear at the top of the table.

Halifax Town and Forest Green Rovers have moved clear at the top of the Conference Premier table after both posted their third successive win on Saturday afternoon.

The Shaymen lead the way on goal difference after two goals from Richard Peniket helped them to a 3-0 win against Welling United, while Rovers eased to a 2-0 success over Alfreton Town.

Previous leaders Barnet suffered their first defeat of the campaign as lost 2-1 to Lincoln City, after Jordan Burrow and Hamza Bencherif struck inside the first 22 minutes.

Eastleigh and Gateshead have extended their unbeaten records after playing out a 2-2 draw at the Silverlake Stadium, while Kidderminster Harriers join them on seven points after edging to a 1-0 win against Dartford.

Macclesfield Town's 100% start came to an end as they were held to a goalless draw by Woking, but Wrexham made it two wins from two with a 1-0 triumph against Nuneaton Town thanks to Louis Moult's early opener.

Southport registered their first point of the campaign after playing out a stalemate with Torquay United, and Chester FC went one better in beating Braintree Town by a 3-1 scoreline.

Altrincham, who won promotion from the Conference North last season, also got their first win on the board with a 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers, while Dover Athletic registered their first point after Matthew Lock struck late on against Grimsby Town.
