Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller believes that winning is all that matters to the club.

Thomas Muller has said that winning is "all that matters" for Bayern Munich during the new Bundesliga season.

The German champions host Borussia Monchengladbach in the season opener this evening.

The 23-year-old told Bild: "I am really looking forward to the start of the Bundesliga season, just like everybody else in Germany.

"The expectations are always high and that will not be any different this season. Winning is all that matters at Bayern.

"We want to live up to the expectations and will always try to win. Games against Gladbach are never easy. They are organized very well. We will have to give our all if we are to win."

Bayern beat Gladbach 5-1 in a pre-season friendly earlier this summer.
