Gabriel Calderon reveals sadness

Real Betis boss Gabriel Calderon reveals his disappointment after the club's relegation from La Liga was confirmed on Saturday.

Real Betis boss Gabriel Calderon has revealed his sadness following the club's relegation from La Liga.

The Seville-based side were beaten 1-0 by Real Sociedad last night, but had already been relegated following Getafe's 1-0 win over Malaga earlier in the afternoon.

"You always think you can stay up," Marca reports Calderon as saying.

"It's a very sad time for all Beticos. These three months I always thought we could and I am very sad because I know what it means to these people.

"It's a reflection of a very bad year and now more than ever Beticos must be united. We have an obligation to this support, which is extraordinary."

Betis have won just five of their 35 league games this season.
