John Hartson: 'Celtic fans will back Ronny Deila'

Celtic's new manager Ronny Deila will have the full backing of the club's fans, according to former player John Hartson.

Former Celtic striker John Hartson has insisted that the club's fans will get firmly behind the new manager Ronny Deila despite the Norwegian being relatively unknown in Britain.

Hartson said that just because Deila is not one of the big names that was mentioned to replace Neil Lennon it does not mean that he cannot make a success of his stay in Glasgow.

"It is not always the bigger names, it is not always the stars who are the best appointments," Hartson told BBC Sport. "I am all for giving people an opportunity.

"He has done well in his native country, he comes with a good reputation in Norway and I am sure Celtic fans will give him his backing."

Deila became Celtic's 16th permanent manager on Friday morning.
