Neil Lennon: 'Kelvin Wilson has played his last game for Celtic'

Neil Lennon admits that Celtic centre-back Kelvin Wilson played his last game for the club in tonight's Champions League third-round qualifier against Elfsborg.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that tonight's Champions League clash with Elfsborg was more than likely Kelvin Wilson's last for the club.

The 27-year-old centre-back is on the verge of a £2.5m return to Nottingham Forest - the club he left to join the Bhoys two years ago.

Lennon praised the Englishman for keeping a level head and helping his team secure a goalless draw in Sweden, which sees them progress to the playoff stages of the Champions League qualifiers.

"I would say it was Kelvin's last game for us," he told BBC Sport. "If it is [his last game] then he could go away with his head held high, I thought he was fantastic tonight for us and he will be a huge miss.

"We chatted to him beforehand, he was in the right frame of mind and didn't want to let the team down and he certainly didn't, I thought he was awesome.

"We are going to work hard to get a few players in, the players are running on empty. These qualifiers are tough and we have two games to go before the group stages."

Wilson came through the ranks at Notts County in 2003 before moving to Preston North End three years later.
