Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich have between them assembled an array of football talent.

This weekend's fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium brings together two of the Premier League's biggest spending powerhouses.

City, backed by Sheikh Mansour, and Chelsea, bankrolled by Roman Abramovich, have been able to attract some of the world's best talents to their respective clubs in recent years.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at some of their biggest transfers:

Manchester City

Robinho – reported price tag: £32.5million. August 2010

The Brazilian often flattered to deceive but joined from Real Madrid on the same day as Arab investment company Abu Dhabi United Group took ownership of City, marking the beginning of the club's ascent towards the big time.

Raheem Sterling – reported price tag: fee rising to £49m. July 2015

The forward became the most expensive English player in history when he left Liverpool aged only 20. He has since become a fulcrum in Pep Guardiola's side.

Kyle Walker – reported price tag: fee rising to £50m. July 2017

The full-back ended eight seasons at Tottenham to join the City revolution, helping the club to Premier League and Carabao Cup glory in his first season in the north-west.

Riyad Mahrez – reported price tag: £60m. July 2018

City broke their own transfer record to end a long pursuit of the Leicester forward. But such is the embarrassment of riches at Guardiola's disposal, the Algerian is not an automatic selection in the XI.

Chelsea

Andriy Shevchenko – reported price tag: £30.8m. May 2006

One of the hottest properties in the world made the switch from AC Milan but goals were in short supply, finding the net only nine times in two forgettable seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Fernando Torres – reported price tag: £50m. January 2011

The Spaniard was a phenomenon at Liverpool but did not have quite the same impact in his three and a half seasons at the Blues. He did, however, help the club win the Champions League in 2011-12.

Alvaro Morata – reported price tag: £60m. July 2017

Yet another striker who came to Chelsea with a big reputation but often failed to hit the heights expected of him. The Spaniard joined from Real Madrid but spent just 18 months in west London before joining Atletico Madrid on loan last month.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – reported price tag: £71.6m. August 2018

The then 23-year-old Spaniard became the world's most expensive goalkeeper after Athletic Bilbao announced Chelsea had paid his release clause following the departure of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.
