France boss Didier Deschamps admits that forward Olivier Giroud is eager for more playing time at Chelsea.

France boss Didier Deschamps has admitted that Olivier Giroud is unhappy with the amount of game time that he has been given at Chelsea.

Giroud has featured in 33 games for the Blues this season, but head coach Maurizio Sarri has provided the forward with just six starts in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old remains first choice for his country, however, and his national team manager has talked up his qualities in attack.

Deschamps is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Giroud is there, he scores goals. He does so too with his club. He'd like to play more and when he plays in the Europa League, he also scores goals.

"In a match like tonight's, against a low-ranked opponent, his presence as a pivot is very useful."

Giroud got on the scoresheet as France registered a 4-1 victory over Moldova.
