Jose Mourinho: 'I owe Loic Remy more game time'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits that he should play Loic Remy more after he scored the winning goal within two minutes of coming on at Hull City.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he "owes" Loic Remy more game time, with Diego Costa's hamstring issues potentially providing an opportunity.

The striker, who has started just three Premier League matches since joining the Blues last summer, stepped off the bench to score the winner in Sunday's 3-2 victory at Hull City.

Remy was only on the pitch as a result of Costa's injury problem, but converted less than two minutes after coming on at the KC Stadium to restore Chelsea's six-point lead at the top of the table.

"Probably he deserves more than what I give him," Mourinho told ITV Sport.

"Sometimes, not many times, a coach can feel he owes something to a player. With Remy that is the case, I think I owe him something.

"Every time he plays he gives us a lot. I'm so happy for him because he deserves it. He never complains."

Remy has netted six times for the Blues this season in all competitions.
