Wigan Athletic offer Victor Moses a new contract in a bid to prevent him from joining Chelsea this summer.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has moved to try to keep Victor Moses at the club by offering the midfielder a new contract that will double his wages.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from Chelsea recently, with the Blues having had an offer rejected for his services yesterday morning.

In a bid to convince the attacking midfielder to remain at the DW Stadium, Whelan has encouraged him to ignore his agent's advice.

"We've made him a very good offer - involving a doubling of his wages - over the next three years," Whelan told the Evening Post. "It's down to whether the lad himself listens to sense, or whether he listens to his agent.

"The player has to realise that it's his future we're talking about not his agent's.

"Agents want cash out of players, that's all, whereas we want the lad to realise his potential and reach the highest level he can."

Moses has 12 months remaining on his current deal.
