Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho rules out signing new players in January

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that he does not need to sign any players in January as he is "happy" with the team.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out signing new players in the January transfer window as he does not need to "clean the dressing room".

The Blues are 16th in the Premier League table, just six months after they lifted the title at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has overseen seven defeats, two draws and just three victories in the top flight this season, prompting reports that the Portuguese coach will search for reinforcements when the transfer window reopens in two months' time.

It has been claimed by some media outlets that Chelsea will revive their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones after failing to land him in the summer, but Mourinho has claimed that new arrivals are not necessary.

"I will not ask any change to the board for January," Mourinho told reporters in a press conference. "I am happy with my players, I trust the players. I don't need to clean the dressing room, and I don't need to ask the club to spend money in January."

The Blues are just three points above the relegation zone.
