Real Madrid allegedly identify Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro as a future transfer target.

Real Madrid reportedly hold an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro.

On the back of his strong performances for Sporting Lisbon, Spurs made the decision to commit to paying €45m (£39.7m) for the right-back in the summer, initially signing him on loan.

A number of the 23-year-old's performances have been heavily criticised at a time when Spurs are all but out of contention to qualify for next season's Champions League.

However, despite some of his sub-standard displays from a defensive perspective, Porro has contributed two goals and two assists from 12 appearances in the Premier League.

Given the financial outlay that will be processed at the end of June, the current plan is for the Spain international to remain in competition with Emerson Royal and Djed Spence for the full-back or wing-back spot on the right.

Porro will also be on a long-term contract with Spurs, ruling out any immediate exit, yet it appears that the player has admirers in his homeland.

According to reports in Spain, Real regard Porro as a potential replacement for their current crop at right-back.

Dani Carvajal is a long-time holder of the aforementioned spot at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Odriozola both viewed as backup options.

Nevertheless, Carvajal turned 31 years of age in January and his alternatives will not be regarded as potential successors if he ever departs Los Blancos.

While young Brazilian Vinicius Tobias may eventually be drafted into the senior ranks, Real will require another option for that area of the pitch in the future.

Chelsea's Reece James allegedly has admirers at Real, even though a transfer is unrealistic at this time, while Villarreal's Juan Foyth is said to be another option.

Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, a reported target of Manchester United, may also be considered due to his attacking tenancies from defence.

Carvajal has a contract with the current European champions until 2025 and is not expected to depart Real at least until the end of next season at the earliest.
