Report: Michael Essien linked with exit

Michael Essien is a target for Al Ain and AC Milan, a newspaper report claims.

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien could soon leave the club, according to reports.

Essien, 31, has been unable to command a regular first-team spot this season, although the Ghana FA have reportedly guaranteed him a place in the nation's 2014 World Cup squad.

The Mirror reports that Al Ain and AC Milan are keen on the former Lyon player.

At the end of December, agent Fabian Piveteau told a French radio station that "several major European clubs playing in the Champions League" were "informed" of Essien's situation.

He returned to Stamford Bridge last summer after a season-long loan at Real Madrid.
