Roberto Martinez unconcerned over future of Kevin Mirallas

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that he is relaxed over the future of Kevin Mirallas, despite the winger breaking off contract talks.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said that he is not concerned about the future of Kevin Mirallas, despite the midfielder stalling talks over a new contract.

The Belgian international will enter the final year of his current deal next season, but Martinez believes that the club must prove to him why he should stay.

He told reporters: "Kevin is on a long-term contract. It is not as if his contract is up at the end of the season. Kevin is happy with his football but I think it is normal to see where we are as a football club before he signs a new contract or decides what he wants to do.

"I don't see him not signing now as a sign of anything. It doesn't make any difference whether you have a two year deal or a six year deal nowadays. If you want to move on you will do it whether you have a long-term or short-term contract."

Mirallas has scored eight goals in 20 appearances so far this season.
