Martin Jol: 'New players need time'

Fulham boss Martin Jol believes that the club's new signings need to be given time following Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has insisted that the club's new signings need time to "gel" following Saturday's defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Darren Bent scored on his debut for the Cottagers, while Scott Parker and Adel Taarabt also featured in the 3-1 loss.

"We lacked a cutting edge up front, but they have the pace up front to punish you, which they did," Jol told BBC Sport.

"But the mentality was good. Bent scored and did well, Parker did well and Taarabt did well. But maybe we need a few days to gel."

Fulham return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Burton Albion in round two of the Capital One Cup.
