Genoa battle back against Atalanta

Genoa overturn a two-goal deficit to claim a share of the spoils from their home encounter against Atalanta.

Genoa's winless run of form extended to three matches during this afternoon's home clash with Atalanta BC, although La Dea did overturn a two-goal deficit to claim a share of the spoils.

All the early running at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris was made by the home side, but Tomas Rincon, Edenilson, Alessandro Matri and Luca Antonelli were all guilty of missing chances.

Those misses were then duly punished by Atalanta's Davide Zappacosta, who made the most of some slack defending to break the deadlock in the 37th minute.

Then, just four minutes after the restart, the away side doubled their advantage when Maximiliano Moralez converted Daniele Baselli's cutback.

However, within two minutes, that deficit was halved as former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Iago Falque kept his cool from the penalty spot.

The response of the visiting side to that goal was positive, but Mattia Perin was on hand to prevent Moralez and Zappacosta from restoring their two-goal lead.

Perin's work between the posts was then duly rewarded with 69 minutes played as Edenilson picked out an unmarked Matri, who rolled the ball in from close range to level up the scoreline at two goals apiece.

As the encounter drew to a close it seemed that Moralez had won the points for Atalanta, but his goalbound strike from distance was well saved by Perin to secure a draw for his side.
