David Wagner 'would snub' Aston Villa approach

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner would reportedly turn down any approach from Aston Villa over their managerial vacancy.

Huddersfield Town are reportedly "confident" that manager David Wagner would turn down the top job at Aston Villa were he approached about the vacancy.

The Terriers have been the surprise package of the Championship so far this season, winning eight of their first 11 matches to sit top of the standings two months into the campaign.

Villa, meanwhile, have had a torrid start to life in the second tier and find themselves just two points above the relegation zone following a solitary win from their first 11 matches.

That form prompted Villa owner Dr Tony Xia to part company with manager Roberto Di Matteo on Monday, with Wagner's early-season heroics making him one of the immediate favourites to take over in Birmingham.

According to the Yorkshire Post, sources at the John Smith's Stadium have revealed that they are "unconcerned" about the German's future with the club and have received no approach from Villa for his services.

Also in the frame for the Villa job are former Huddersfield boss Steve Bruce and Brentford manager Dean Smith.
