Hull City confirm Jake Livermore is suspended pending "further investigations"

Hull City confirm that Jake Livermore has been suspended, but do not confirm or deny reports that he tested positive for cocaine.

Hull City have confirmed that midfielder Jake Livermore has been suspended by the club pending "further investigations" by the Football Association.

This afternoon, it was reported that Livermore will miss the Tigers' final two games of the Premier League season after he tested positive for cocaine.

The 25-year-old is believed to have failed a random drugs test following Hull's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last month.

While Hull have not specified the reasons behind Livermore's suspension, they have confirmed that the midfielder will miss games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Following suspension by the FA the club has subsequently suspended Jake Livermore pending further investigations to be made by the FA and our own internal disciplinary procedures. The club is unable to make any further comment during this process."

If the alleged positive drugs test came out of competition, the midfielder could be handed a maximum ban of six months by the FA.

Hull are fighting for Premier League survival as they currently reside two points adrift of safety.
