Italian TV station TopCalcio24 ban 80-year-old pundit Luciano Passirani after he made racist comments about Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku at the weekend.

Italian broadcasters TopCalcio24 have banned a pundit after he made a racist comment about former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku at the weekend.

The comments came after the Belgian has already had to endure racist abuse from the Cagliari fans after he scored in a 2-1 victory for his new side Inter Milan last month.

Eighty-year-old Luciano Passirani said: "If you go one-on-one with him he will murder you.

"The only way to come up against him is maybe give him 10 bananas to eat."

TopCalcio24's programme director Fabio Ravezzani said of the weekend's incident: "Mr Passirani is 80 years old and to compliment Lukaku he used a metaphor that turned out to be racist.

"I think it was a terrible lack of momentary lucidity. I cannot tolerate any kind of errors, even if momentary."

Lukaku is expected to make his Champions League debut for Inter when they host Slavia Prague on Tuesday.
