FA to investigate Brendan Rodgers comments

The Football Association will investigate comments made by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers towards referee Lee Mason following the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

The Football Association will investigate comments made by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers towards referee Lee Mason.

Rodgers was unhappy with the performance of the official in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City and hinted at biased decisions from Mason.

Rodgers was angry with the goal that Raheem Sterling had wrongly ruled out for offside, as well as Luis Suarez being denied a late penalty.

The FA now must decide if rule E3 (1) has been breached, which legislates for comments made about a match official that imply bias, attack the official's integrity or which are personally offensive in nature.

Should the FA decide on any action against the former Swansea City boss, then it is likely to happen next week.

Liverpool's defeat to City saw them drop to fourth in the Premier League table.
