Cristian Tello keen to prove himself at Barcelona

Barcelona forward Cristian Tello insists that he never thought about leaving the club in the summer, despite interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona winger Cristian Tello has revealed that he never planned to leave the club this summer and hopes to prove himself this season.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly keen on the youngster.

However, the speculation ended when Tello signed a new deal with the Catalan giants in August.

Despite the interest from England and the signing of Neymar, Tello insists that he never thought about leaving Camp Nou.

"I always wanted to stay at Barca," he told reporters. "The coach has confidence in me, I am content there and ready to play a lot of minutes.

"I feel better than in previous years. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never planned to leave."

Tello played 34 times for Barca last season, but he is likely to be Neymar's understudy this season.
