Kevin De Bruyne confident of Manchester City progress

Kevin De Bruyne insists that his Manchester City side have the advantage in their Champions League quarter-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that his side have the advantage in their Champions League quarter-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Belgian was among the goals as the Citizens claimed an unexpected 2-2 draw at the Ligue 1 champions on Wednesday night ahead of the return leg in Manchester next week.

"We feel we can go through at home but we know it will be a tough game," De Bruyne told reporters after the match. "PSG will go to Manchester to score goals, and there is still 90 minutes to play. But maybe now people will see our chances are a little bit better.

"It was a difficult game, but that's what we expected. You know PSG will have a lot of the ball, but it was mainly between the two defenders and the three midfielders, so it wasn't like they were pressing us all the time.

"We showed a lot of character. The team did OK, especially defensively. Obviously we made a mistake to make it 1-1, but that happens and even when it was 2-1 we were trying to score – and we got that little bit of luck and did it."

De Bruyne was featuring in just his second game since returning from a two-month layoff with a knee injury and made it two goals in as many appearances after finding the target at Bournemouth last weekend.

"I am a little bit better than the other game," De Bruyne added. "I lasted longer and we'll see how tomorrow progresses before we decide what to do at the weekend.

"We will discuss it in the next few days but I'm happy with the way it's going. Physically I am getting better."

City welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Etihad in Saturday's late kickoff as they look to solidify a top-four place.
