Steve Clarke: 'Manchester City defeat difficult to take'

West Brom boss Steve Clarke confesses that his side's last-minute defeat to Manchester City at the Hawthorns was "difficult to take".

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has admitted that he was left disappointed after his side lost out late on to Manchester City this afternoon.

Substitute Edin Dzeko netted twice in the final 10 minutes as City came from behind to record a 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns, despite having had James Milner sent off in the first period.

Clarke was forced to concede that the Premier League champions deserved the plaudits for their brave comeback, but also revealed his satisfaction with his own side's display.

He said: "It is a difficult one to take but we have to give credit to City. They showed why they are champions - the way they played with 10 men was tremendous.

"Saying that, we put them in a position where they were reduced to 10 men and we acquitted ourselves very well and showed we are a very good team too."

The result was West Brom's first home defeat of the season, but they remain sixth in the Premier League table despite the defeat.
