Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits his pride after watching his side notch up a club-record equalling 11th straight win in all competitions.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted his pride after his side defeated Burnley 3-0 this afternoon to make it 11 consecutive wins in all competitions.

Sergio Aguero became the club's joint top-scorer of all time when he opened the scoring from the spot with half an hour played, with Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane later making sure of the three points in the final 20 minutes.

The side are now one win away from setting a club record of 12 straight victories, but Guardiola insists that such a record would only be worthwhile if they go on to claim silverware this term.

"Burnley have won in amazing stages this season," he told reporters afterwards. "Another good performance. In the second half it was amazing how good we played. A lot of control and after the second and third goals the game is over. I'm so happy to continue our winning mentality.

"Another clean sheet is so important [too]. We have the ability to score a lot of goals. We had a lot of chances and the keeper made some good saves. We were stable in front and back.

"The record [of 11 straight wins] is good if you lift something, titles or a trophy. It means a lot. Of course it is not easy to win 11 in a row, so it's good."

Next up for Guardiola's men is a home tie with Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last 16 of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
