Former Manchester City striker David White has insisted that the club's current crop of players have the opportunity to become 'super legends'.
City won the Premier League title in the dying moments of last season to add to their FA Cup victory from the previous year under the current ownership.
Roberto Mancini signed a new five-year deal on Monday, and White is adamant that the club can once again challenge for honours during the upcoming campaign.
"These guys have the opportunity over the space of five or six years to become super legends, not just at Manchester City, but all over the world. That's what the fans are looking for and it's seriously exciting," White told talkSPORT.
"I think it would be a mistake to overhaul the squad again. To integrate five or six new players into a squad is always difficult.
"When you are near the top of the league you want consistency, and chopping and changing your squad every season won't give you that. That would disrupt things too much. The squad is full of top quality players already."
City begin the new season at home to Southampton on August 19.
