Bayern Munich have reportedly identified Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan as a potential summer transfer target.
Since leaving Borussia Dortmund for the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Gundogan has established himself as one of City's best-ever midfielders.
As well as chipping in with 51 goals and 34 assists from 268 appearances, the Germany international has contributed heavily to four Premier League titles.
However, earlier in 2022, it was suggested that the 32-year-old may be allowed to depart the English giants with his contract due to expire in 2023.
Gundogan instead remained in the North West, going on to make 11 starts and three substitute outings in the Premier League and Champions League this campaign.

Nevertheless, while the player continues to have less than a year remaining on his existing deal, speculation will persist regarding his long-term future.
According to 90min, Bayern are monitoring the situation ahead of attempting to sign Gundogan on a free transfer.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has already insisted that the Bundesliga outfit will not be active during the January window, a clear indication that Bayern are currently happy with their squad.
However, should City not renew the player's terms before the end of the year, Gundogan will be able to hold discussions with foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement.

The report claims that Gundogan is tempted by the prospect of another stint in Germany, even if it means playing for the rivals of his former club.
Gundogan was part of the Dortmund squad which won the 2011-12 Bundesliga title, the last season in which Bayern failed to win the top-flight crown.
In total, he made 157 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions, contributing 15 goals and 20 assists, while he has also enjoyed a spell with Nuremberg.
Bayern are already well stocked for central-midfield options with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch and Marcel Sabitzer all competing for spots in that area of the pitch.
