Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic states that the Bundesliga giants will not be active in the January transfer window amid interest in Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has stated that the German giants will not be active in the January transfer window amid interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The perennial Bundesliga winners spent around £120m on five players over the summer, with Matthijs de Ligt, Sadio Mane, Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel and Noussair Mazraoui all joining the club on permanent deals.

Bayern also generated around £90m from the sale of eight players, including star striker Robert Lewandowski who moved to Barcelona.

Following the departure of Lewandowski, Bayern have since been linked with a big-money move for Spurs talisman Kane, with one recent report claiming that they have strengthened their interest in the England international.

Speculation continues to swirl surrounding Kane's next career move, with his contract in North London set to expire in June 2024.

While Kane is thought to be in no rush to extend his existing deal, Tottenham are believed to be optimistic that the 29-year-old will commit his future to the club.

Bayern would allegedly be prepared to pay in excess of €100m (£87.5m) to sign Kane, but Salihamidzic has ruled out a January move for any player including the Spurs striker.

Speaking to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Salihamidzic said: "No, we've done a lot this summer. We will not be active in the transfer market in winter."

Salihamidzic has also denied reports linking Bayern with moves for Kane, Borussia Monchengladbach's Marcus Thuram and Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix, the latter of whom is believed to be keen to leave the Spanish side in January.

Asked about Kane in particular, Salihamidzic said: "He's a top player in the world, but we don't talk about players under contract at other clubs".

Last month, Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann refused to rule out the prospect of Kane arriving at the Allianz Arena in the future.

"He's very expensive that's the problem," Nagelsmann told reporters. "But brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he's very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet.

"He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don't know the price, but it's really tough for Bayern Munich. We'll see what happens in the future."

Bayern have had no problems finding the net since the departure of Lewandowski, scoring 32 times in 11 Bundesliga matches this season, more than any other side in the division.

Leroy Sane is currently the club's top scorer with 10 strikes in 16 appearances across all competitions, while Mane and Jamal Musiala have both scored nine times so far this season.
