Eric Garcia 'to snub Barcelona to sign Manchester City deal'

Eric Garcia is reportedly close to penning a new long-term contract with Manchester City, rather than accepting the chance to return to Barcelona.

Defender Eric Garcia is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with Manchester City.

At a time when the 19-year-old is being provided with more opportunities in the first team, Barcelona have been linked with a reunion with the centre-back.

Although the youngster never made a senior appearance for the Catalan giants, he spent almost a decade in the youth setup at his hometown club.

However, according to The Sun, Garcia has informed Pep Guardiola that he sees his future at the Etihad Stadium.

As well as signing a deal which will extend his stay at City until 2025, the Spaniard will also more than treble his wages.

Garcia, who does not turn 20 until January, has made 12 starts and four substitute outings in all competitions since making his debut in December 2018.
