Pep Guardiola clarifies Kevin De Bruyne buy-out clause quotes

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola clarifies his previous comments relating to a potential release clause in the contract of Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has clarified his previous comments relating to a potential release clause in the contract of Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Guardiola, speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Fulham, appeared to suggest that De Bruyne had a buy-out clause of around £223m inserted into his current deal.

However, the Spaniard has said that he was merely insisting that De Bruyne would not be sold for that amount, and he is currently unaware of any release clause in the 27-year-old's contract.

"The journalist asked if we'd sell for £223m and I said 'no'. I don't think he has a release clause in his contract," Guardiola told reporters.

De Bruyne has returned to first-team training after picking up a knee problem last month, but the midfielder will not be available for the clash with Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.
