Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini feels the club needs "more players" after a relatively quiet transfer window so far.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that the club needs "more players" before the end of the summer transfer window.

Despite their previous extravagancy in the transfer market, the Premier League champions have brought in just one player this summer - midfielder Jack Rodwell for around £15m.

Mancini does have his heart set on new faces at the Etihad, however, saying: "We need more players.

"We have 10 days, time is very short. We now have only 20, 21 with the young players. And this year there is the Africa Cup [of Nations]."

The Citizens begin the defence of their title by welcoming newly-promoted Southampton to the Etihad this afternoon.
