Premier League "looking good" to keep fourth Champions League spot

The Premier League is "looking good" to keep its four Champions League places for the 2017-18 season, according to UEFA.

UEFA has said that it is "looking good" for the Premier League to keep its fourth Champions League spot after last month's results in European competition.

England has widened its ranking gap over fourth-placed Italy in the coefficients and now looks set to hold on to its four Champions League spot ahead of the 2017-18 allocations.

England have 73.909 points to lie ahead of Italy (70.272), but behind Spain (97.713) and Germany (77.177).

Last month Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all advanced to the last 16 of the Europa League, while Manchester City won the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Dynamo Kiev.

Chelsea and Arsenal, however, both suffered defeat in their opening legs against Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona respectively.
