Andre Marriner has been appointed as the man to officiate Saturday's match between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield.
The 40-year-old took charge when the sides met on Merseyside two seasons ago, a game which the hosts won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Fernando Torres and David Ngog.
The referee also took the decision to send off United's Nemanja Vidic and Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson was highly critical of Marriner's performance, saying at the time: "The atmosphere is hard to handle for a referee. Whether he had enough experience, I don't know.
"There were so many controversial things that happened we have to feel aggrieved at some of them."
Marriner has been a Premier League official since 2005.
