Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to appoint long-term associate Rui Faria as his assistant at Manchester United.
Ryan Giggs has carried out those duties at Old Trafford over the last two seasons, but his future is now unclear following last night's sacking of Louis van Gaal and the imminent arrival of Mourinho.
According to Sky Sports News, while the Portuguese coach is open to the prospect of keeping Giggs involved, Faria will be his right-hand man in the dugout.
The 40-year-old has worked with Mourinho since 2001, which has taken him to Uniao Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and then back to Chelsea.
Yesterday, a report claimed that Giggs had already been offered a downgraded role within the new setup.
