Robin van Persie relieved to end barren spell

Manchester United hitman Robin van Persie admits that he is relieved to be back among the goals after scoring in the 3-0 win over Hull City at Old Trafford.

Robin van Persie has expressed his relief after ending a four-game goal drought in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Hull City this afternoon.

The Dutchman added the third in a rout of the Tigers at Old Trafford, for what was his first goal since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last month.

Manager Louis van Gaal had previously warned his compatriot that he must improve after touching the ball just 13 times in last week's 2-1 win at Arsenal.

"I was glad to score - I needed that goal to be honest," Van Persie told BBC Sport at full time.

"We played really well, you could see that in way we passed the ball. Every week it gets quicker and better. Today it could have been 4-0 or 5-0."

United moved back into fourth place in the Premier League table after Arsenal had temporarily displaced them with victory earlier today.
