Antonio Valencia vows to "keep fighting" in the race for the Premier League title, despite Manchester City opening up an 11-point advantage on Manchester United.

Manchester United full-back Antonio Valencia has said that his side can use previous negative experiences to inspire them to the Premier League title this season.

A 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon moved Manchester City 11 points clear of the Red Devils at the top of the table and well on course for a third Prem title success.

Valencia knows all about the pressure that can come with holding off the chasing pack, however, and admits that he and his United teammates now have a duty to fight until the very end no matter how big the gap.

"We are Manchester United and it's our duty to keep going to represent the club and keep looking forward and try to close that gap as best we can," he told Sky Sports News. "While ever there's a chance mathematically, we just keep fighting."

"We know that 11 points is a big gap but I can think back to when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager and the gap was something like nine points and we ended up losing the title.

"So we know that it's the Premier League, we know that everyone's capable of beating everyone else and it's just a case of keep fighting."

United welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening while leaders Man City head to Swansea City.
