Report: Chelsea to hijack Manchester United's bid for Nathaniel Clyne

Chelsea are looking to beat Manchester United to the signature of Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to reports.

Chelsea are planning to hijack Manchester United's bid for Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to reports.

The 23-year-old is said to be stalling on a new contract at St Mary's in anticipation of a summer move to Old Trafford.

According to The Express, however, the Blues are keen to sign the young England right-back following their failure to bring Luke Shaw to Stamford Bridge last summer.

Clyne has played 24 of Southampton's 26 games, scoring twice.
