Manchester United draw up an eight-man transfer shortlist as the 20-time English champions continue to rebuild, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly drawn up an eight-man transfer shortlist as the 20-time English champions continue to rebuild their squad.

The Red Devils signed Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James during the summer with one eye on the future, and it is understood that the club will no longer be targeting big-name signings.

United are allegedly weighing up a £200m swoop for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho and Red Bull Salzburg's Erling Haaland during the January transfer window.

According to ESPN, as well as Sancho and Haaland, Leicester City's James Maddison and West Ham United's Declan Rice are long-term targets for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The report also names Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and Lyon's Moussa Dembele as potential arrivals, in addition to Aston Villa pair John McGinn and Jack Grealish.

An inconsistent start to the 2019-20 campaign has left Solskjaer's team in seventh position in the Premier League table, already nine points off fourth-placed Manchester City.

A new forward is believed to be a priority for the club after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez during the summer transfer window.
