Valencia forward Maxi Gomez emerges as a top transfer target for Manchester United, according to a report.

Manchester United reportedly had scouts in attendance to watch Maxi Gomez score twice for Valencia in Saturday afternoon's 2-0 win over Barcelona at the Mestalla.

Gomez was strongly linked with a move to West Ham United during the summer but ultimately left Celta Vigo to join Los Che, where he has managed nine goals in 25 appearances this term.

According to Cadena SER, United had scouts in the crowd to watch Gomez, who has emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils in this summer's transfer window.

The Uruguay international signed a five-year deal upon his arrival at the Mestalla, though, and the report notes that his release clause stands at £120m.

Alexis Sanchez will return to Old Trafford at the end of the season, but the Red Devils have still not replaced Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter Milan in a big-money deal last summer.

Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, could reportedly arrive in Manchester on Wednesday to undergo a medical with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side ahead of a £47m switch.
