The Spanish goalkeeper has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a move to the Bernabeu.
According to the Daily Express, United will go back to Real to try to negotiate a deal for Bale if De Gea decides to head back to Spain.
The 24-year-old stopper is said to have told close friends that his heart will govern where he plays his football, rather than money.
