Chris Smalling 'to wait until summer to decide future'

Chris Smalling will not make a decision on his Manchester United future until the summer, according to a report.

Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling will reportedly not make a decision on his future until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Englishman has excelled for loan club Roma this term, and the Italian giants recently revealed that they wanted to sign the defender on a permanent deal.

Smalling is allegedly open to remaining in Italy having enjoyed his spell thus far, and Roma were believed to be closing in on a transfer for the 30-year-old.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the former non-league defender will not make a decision on his future until the completion of his loan spell in Rome.

The report also denies that there has been any negotiations between the two clubs over a permanent deal.

Smalling was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford last summer following the arrival of England international Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

The former Fulham youngster has made 323 appearances of the Red Devils in all competitions, though, and has a contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side until June 2022.
