Manchester United have allegedly ended their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
Uruguay international Cavani has been linked with Old Trafford since former boss David Moyes identified him as a transfer target, but his successor Louis van Gaal has no interest in him, according to the Daily Star.
Fabregas has also been a long-term target for United, but his £45m price tag and high wage demands are thought to have deterred the Red Devils.
Van Gaal is now expected to turn his attentions elsewhere for midfielder reinforcements, with Kevin Strootman of Roma said to be top of his shopping list.
