Danny Welbeck has admitted that a run of impressive performances for Manchester United is the best way for him to secure a spot in England's World Cup squad.
The 23-year-old forward has struggled to produce his best form during a difficult season for United but he is confident that he still has enough time to impress Roy Hodgson after coming on as a substitute in the win over Denmark on Wednesday.
"If I get my opportunity, I just want to give it my best shot," Welbeck told the FA's official website. "I've got faith in my own ability.
"We're all in it together but, at the same time, we're fighting for that World Cup spot.
"I just want to play for my club, try to score goals and try to keep injury free."
Welbeck is expected to be involved when United face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
