Montpellier HSC put four past tame Nantes in comfortable Ligue 1 win

Montpellier HSC record a comfortable 4-0 win over visiting Nantes in Ligue 1, thanks to goals from Paul Lasne, Kevin Berigaud, Anthony Mounier and Lucas Barrios.

Goals from Paul Lasne, Kevin Berigaud and Anthony Mounier helped to earn Montpellier HSC a comfortable 4-0 victory over Nantes in Ligue 1 this evening.

Rolland Courbis and his men have now recorded three straight wins in the French top flight.

Montpellier threatened from the off and might have gone in front had Berigaud been able to keep his effort on target, but he was wasteful having shot wide.

The frontman quickly made up for this profligacy, though, when he slipped in Lasne, who produced an emphatic finish to fire into the top corner from a difficult angle.

Jonas Martin almost made 2-0 to the hosts when he was denied by Nantes keeper Remy Riou, who got down low to the bottom-left corner to keep out a stinging shot.

Nantes spurned two standout chances to get themselves back into the encounter, with Montpellier stopper Geoffrey Jourdren doing remarkably well to stave off attempts from both Yacine Bammou and Johan Audel.

The home side moved two goals to the good straight after half time thanks to some enterprising work from Lucas Barrios, whose cross meant that Berigaud could not miss from only a few yards out.

The game was wrapped up in favour of Courbis and his men 10 minutes from time when Mounier fired into the bottom corner from the middle of the box, before Barrios bagged a goal of his own in the 82nd minute to leave the final score at 4-0.
