Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback feels that his side showed resolve to respond to going a goal down against Everton to claim a 3-2 victory at St James' Park.
The Magpies ended a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League with their win over the Toffees, but had to come from behind after Arouna Kone fired Roberto Martinez's men in front in the fifth minute.
However, Alan Pardew's men responded as goals from Papiss Cisse, Ayoze Perez and Jack Colback guided them to the three points, despite a late strike from Kevin Mirallas.
Colback told Sky Sports News: "It's nice to finally get one it has been a long time coming, I've had my chances in other games but I've not taken them, so it was nice to put that one away.
"We were looking at these two games to hopefully get wins from. We've had a difficult period with successive defeats after we were on a good run, but it was important that we showed character, and we did that today."
Newcastle face Burnley at St James' Park on Thursday in their next match.
